Michael Schwartz was born and raised in the Bronx, NY. He has been a freelance photographer for the NY Daily News since 1994. Prior to that he was a staff photographer at the NY Post for 10 years. He has works from his 9/11 series depicting the attack on the World Trade Center in the collection of the Library of Congress and this project, “Irish Eyes,” was acquired for the Brooklyn Museum’s permanent collection.
He has had numerous shows including three at the SoHo Gallery in New York for his Belfast work. His photographs have been entered as Pulitzer Prize contenders from the NY Daily News and the NY Post. Michael won the Society of the Silurians Best Spot News Photograph Award in 2007, and the New York Press Club Spot News Awards in 2009 and 2010.
